Music for a Sustainable Planet Concert 1.0 at Symphony Space in NYC
The inaugural concert featured The Kronos Quartet and ÆON Music Ensemble performing works in response to Climate Change. At a pivotal time in history, as World Leaders gathered at the United Nations General Assembly to discuss the adoption and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, the concert offered a musical interpretation of what is at stake and what is possible. Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs, Director of the Earth Institute, offered opening remarks that contextualized the larger issues faced by all of us as we work for a more sustainable future. The program included a World Premiere of “Rise” by Charles Boguinia White, a work inspired by data revealing the desperate state of our oceans. The Kronos Quartet and the ÆON Music Ensemble premiered this amazing multi-media work, as well as presenting pieces by Omar Souleyman, Hamza El Din, and Terry Riley.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN SDSN) and the ÆON Music Ensemble presented the second annual Music for a Sustainable Planet Concert. Building on the momentum of last year’s Global Arts Music for a Sustainable Planet concert with the Kronos Quartet and ÆON Music Ensemble, the festival continued to push the boundaries through innovative programming at the second annual Global Arts Music for a Sustainable Planet concert at Carnegie Zankel Hall on Sept. 21, 2016, at 7:30pm. The concert featured DJ Spooky, and ÆON performing works in response to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As World Leaders gather at the UN General Assembly on the theme ‘SDGs: a universal push to transform our world.’
Music for a Sustainable Planet Concert 3.0 at Carnegie Hall in NYC
The third annual ‘Concert for a Sustainable Planet’ took place at Carnegie Hall in New York, on September 18, 2017. The concert featured cellist Yo-Yo Ma and was presented in partnership with the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and IIASA to raise awareness, foster dialogue, and inspire action for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
